Guelph, ON—As outlined in the Veterinary Professionals Act, within two months of the legislation receiving Royal Assent, the OAVT was tasked with appointing three RVT members to the Transition Council. The Transition Council will collaborate with the College and other professionals in our industry to develop the regulations, by-laws and standards that will govern the future of veterinary medicine in Ontario.
“Through a rigorous and structured selection and interview process, we identified candidates with the ideal competencies and skills needed for this important role,” said Hailey Farkas, RVT and OAVT Board President. “We extend our gratitude to all who applied and look forward to RVTs’ ongoing involvement in shaping the future of veterinary medicine in Ontario.”
The OAVT Board of Directors has appointed three ideally suited applicants to join the new Transition Council. Please join us in congratulating:
- Kirsti Clarida, RVT
- Lisa Langton, BSc, MEd, gDPPE, RVT
- Phil Nichols, RVT, CAWA.
The OAVT would like to acknowledge all candidates who applied and thank them for submitting themselves for consideration.
The remaining seats on the Transition Council will be filled by the current members of the Council of the College of Veterinarians of Ontario, including veterinarians and members of the public.
