At Woodlawn Veterinary Hospital we believe the RVT / Vet relationship is key to success.
We are looking for an experienced, highly intuitive Registered Veterinary Technician to join our team for this current opening in a part-time role for weekdays and weekends.
This is not a position where you just wait to be told what to do. We are seeking someone who will thrive working closely with our veterinarians on surgical, medical and preventative cases, anticipating doctor and patient needs and facilitating a smooth, efficient environment for both pets and staff.
What You’ll Be Doing (Proactively!)
Anticipating the DVM: Through technical proficiency, prioritizing familiarity with Dr preferences, and providing proactive patient assessment. Preparing for procedures, treatments, and diagnostics before being asked, seeing appointments through from start to finish.
Anesthesia: Inducing, maintaining, and monitoring anesthesia with precision, while providing top-tier patient care and recovery.
Diagnostics: Obtaining and processing lab samples, recording results in patient files and communicating them with Dr’s and Owners as needed.
Dentistry: Assisting with dental radiographs; monitoring during procedures and performing routine cleanings (scaling and polishing0.
Patient Care: Prioritizing patient well being by providing compassionate nursing care, paying active attention to changing conditions and patient cues while providing proactive communication with the Dr’s.
Client Care: Acting as a trusted liaison between clients and Dr’s, starting appointments, obtaining histories and educating clients on procedures, protocol and recommendations.
What You Bring to the Team
Registration: Current RVT status is required.
Intuition & Initiative: You are a master of reading the room and the patient, pro-actively preparing patients for surgeries, managing anesthetic, starting appointments and being available to Drs throughout.
Compassion: You are calm, empathetic, and dedicated to low-stress but effective patient handling.
Skills: Technical Proficiency in surgery, patient handling and restraint, as well as obtaining laboratory samples. Proficiency with computers, particularly veterinary software systems and in house laboratory (blood and urine) machines. Effective communication and teamwork.
