Registered Veterinary Technician

Alta Vista Animal Hospital has a full time opportunity for a dedicated, experienced Anesthesia Registered Veterinary Technician to join our amazing Specialty Departments. The successful candidate will be a believer in the possibilities of high quality veterinary medicine and patient care—with the expertise and technical know-how to make them happen. In this position you will be supporting our Doctors and Support teams by creating a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Performing initial examinations.
  • Taking vital signs, drawing blood and gathering medical histories.
  • Collecting specimens.
  • Assisting in research.
  • Performing laboratory procedures.
  • Preparing patients and equipment for surgical procedures.
  • Experience with anesthetic delivery, support, and monitoring equipment
  • Assist during procedures
  • Taking and processing x-rays.
  • Performs accurate and consistent inventory, cleaning, and, maintenance procedures of surgical materials, equipment, and clinical area
  • Ability to calculate drug doses and administer medications intravenously, subcutaneously, intramuscularly, and/or orally
  • Understanding and experience with routine repair and maintaining anesthesia related equipment
  • Engaging with client to answer any questions or concerns

Required Qualifications:

  • Registered Veterinary Technician
  • Fluent in English (Reading, Writing and Oral)
  • Able to support patients up to 50kg and lift up to 25kg.
  • Asset would be direct experience within the specialty veterinary environment.
