The American College of Veterinary Dermatology performed a survey of approximately 300 North American veterinary clients who owned pets with a dermatology problem. 73% of clients who visited their primary care veterinarian more than 3 times for evaluation of their pets’ dermatologic problems reached a “tipping point of frustration.” Allergic disease is one of the most common conditions seen in general practice and can be frustrating for the veterinary team to manage. This presentation will cover some of the common pitfalls in allergy disease management of the dog, from the perspective of a veterinary dermatologist and a general practitioner.
