RVT, RVTr, and Pending members in good standing with the OAVT can access the Member Assistance Program (MAP) provided by Dialogue. Members receive free, confidential, and convenient support from licensed healthcare professionals and experts through a digital platform. Connect with Dialogue using the Dialogue app on an iOS or Android device, or through the web on a computer.

Resources for Those in Urgent Need

If you or someone you know is thinking about suicide, connect with a crisis responder to get help without judgement by contacting the 9-8-8 Suicide Crisis Helpline. Support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  

211 applies a human touch for personalized solutions. Community Navigators know how to ask the right questions to get the full picture of a person’s needs. Navigators then provide referrals to services to connect a person to the right supports. In addition, some partnerships offer direct support to individuals registered with this service or provide a warm transfer to the program. Community Navigators will also advocate on a contact’s behalf, at their request.

SafePet Ontario provides pet-safekeeping for survivors of family violence and sex trafficking in Ontario. They provide a safe, temporary home for pets of people escaping violence, so they don’t have to choose between their safety or the safety of their pets.

The Toronto Humane Society’s Urgent Care program is a response-based, preventative program, offering temporary foster care for pet owners experiencing a short-term crisis which impacts their ability to care for their pet.

Some examples of Urgent Care might include a caregiver who is fleeing domestic violence or abuse; experiencing sudden housing instability and/or homelessness; or being admitted to a care facility to seek treatment for their own health.

The program is available to pet owners who have no other options, and do not wish to be separated from their animal.
