Specialty Technical Manager

HOURS: 40 hours per week, with a potential for in-shift hours.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • 2 years’ leadership or management experience, preferably in the veterinary industry.
  • 1years’ experience working in a veterinary setting preferred
  • Good organizational and communication skills with the ability to develop positive interpersonal relationships in a busy, multi-departmental setting.
  • RVT preferred

 

JOB SUMMARY:

The Specialty Manager will be responsible for ensuring that each department has the resources and tools necessary to create and maintain positive and safe work environments, and a motivated, efficient team. They will work with their staff, Department Heads, AGM and GM on an ongoing basis to assess and monitor needs, accomplish goals, and improve the overall integration of all staff into the MOVEH-VCA team.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Staff Management, provide leadership to a team of RVTs and ACAs, including on the floor assessments of workflow. Responsibilities will include:creating a positive, safe and efficient work environment by providing clear communication, establish staffing needs in collaboration with the Department Heads and AGM and submit requests for hiring additional full and and part time positions,
    organize and provide guidance for specialized training to new hires and existing staff
  • Perform consistent and regular follow up on outstanding issues with regards to workload, performance management and other organizational/technical matters,
  • Apply progressive discipline when required in conjunction with HR
  • Creating and maintaining protocols, policies and procedures, and overall good working conditions for a motivated team.
  • Business Operations includes managing the operations of the Specialty departments byAssisting with annual budgeting including revenue and expense projections, as well as managing to the forecasted budget throughout the year.
  • Monitoring the staff requirements to ensure the efficient operation of the department.
  • Working with the administrative staff to manage the accounts receivable, inventory, equipment purchase requirements, and the monthly reporting requirements for the Leadership team.

 

REPORTING REQUIREMENTS:  Reports directly to General Manager.
