Registered Veterinary Technician

Tilbury Veterinary Hospital is looking for a new member to join our team.

Job Responsibilities:

Patient Care and Clinical Support:

• Provide compassionate, hands-on patient care.
• Assist veterinarians with exams, surgeries, dentistry, and nursing.
• Prepare patients for surgery and support anesthesia and recovery.
• Administer prescribed medications, treatments, and vaccines.
• Perform lab tests including blood work, urinalysis, and cytology.
• Monitor and record patient health and behavior; report changes to the D.V.M.

Technical and Medical Tasks:

• Perform IV catheter placement, blood collection, injections, and intubation.
• Conduct dental scaling, polishing, and take full-body and dental radiographs.
• Lead appointments for education, minor procedures, and follow-ups.
• Fill prescriptions and prepare medications as directed.

Client Communication and Administrative Support:

• Deliver excellent customer service and client education.
• Manage calls, emails, voicemails, and text communications.
• Triage patients and follow up on ongoing cases.
• Handle client invoicing, billing, and scheduling.
• Maintain accurate, confidential patient and client records.

Clinic Maintenance and Organization:

• Stock supplies in all clinical and exam areas.
• Maintain cleanliness and sterilize equipment.
• Support reception and general clinic operations as needed.

Experience, skills and Qualifications:

• Registered Veterinary Technician or eligible to register.
• 2 years of experience as an RVT.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Experience using communication tools and technology, experience with IDEXX Cornerstone software and other client management tools is an asset.
