Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated part-time Registered Veterinary Technician to join our animal care team. Enjoy working in a family-owned, non-corporate practice in Thorndale, Ontario (10 minutes north-east of London). We are a small animal clinic caring for cats, dogs and small mammals with one full-time Veterinarian. The hospital is well equipped, including x-ray, ultrasound and IDEXX in house lab.
We offer $28.00 per hour with a benefit plan, and 80% discount on services for staff pets. Annual CE and annual scrubs allowance also provided.
The ideal candidate will assist in providing high-quality medical care for animals and support the overall functioning of the veterinary practice. Should be able to work well in a team setting. Must also be able to multi-task and work independently.
Duties:
– Assist veterinarians in routine examinations, surgeries, and other medical procedures
– Perform laboratory tests such as urinalysis and bloodwork
– Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian
– Prepare animals and equipment for surgery, and monitor surgery patients
– Maintain accurate medical records of patients
– Educate pet owners on animal care and treatment plans
Experience:
– Previous experience as a Registered Veterinary Technician is an asset but not required for pending graduate members with the OAVT
– Proficiency in Phlebotomy and Surgery procedures is highly desirable
– Avimark experience is preferred
