Registered Veterinary Technician

Location: Tartan Tails Veterinary Hospital – Dartmouth

Position Type: Full-Time

Compensation: From $28/hour + $3000 signing bonus

Tartan Tails Veterinary Hospital is seeking a compassionate, skilled Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our growing team in a fast-paced, community-driven veterinary hospital. This is a unique opportunity to practice high-quality veterinary medicine while supporting a spectrum of care approach of care for pets and families across Nova Scotia, as Eastern Canada’s only accessible care hospitals.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, anesthesia, radiology, surgical support, and dental procedures
• Provide high-volume spay/neuter and shelter medicine support (training provided)
• Deliver client education grounded in Spectrum of Care principles
• Support the flow of patients through both the public hospital and shelter clinic
• Perform laboratory diagnostics (in-house IDEXX, urinalysis, cytology, etc.)
• Champion low-stress handling and Fear Free techniques
• Participate in a collaborative, positive, mission-focused team culture

What We’re Looking For

• Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) in good standing, or eligible to obtain licensure in Nova Scotia
• A commitment to compassionate, inclusive care
• Strong communication skills and client-centered approach
• Comfort adapting care plans based on available resources
• Interest in shelter medicine and community veterinary initiatives
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, integrated hospital–shelter environment
