Website Phases Veterinary Emergency Hospital

Exciting opportunities in a brand new emergency hospital!

Come and join a new team of brilliant, dedicated and fun-loving Registered Veterinary Technicians at Phases Veterinary Emergency Hospital in beautiful Kamloops, BC.

Our projected opening date will be Fall-Winter 2023, and we are now starting to build our team.

We will be a new, locally owned and operated, fully-equipped emergency hospital servicing dogs, cats and exotic pets. There is a great need for an emergency facility in this region, with the closest such facility being 2 hours away, and we look forward to providing gold-standard emergency care to all of the pets in and around Kamloops.

Some of the services we will offer our patients include digital xray, ultrasound, full in-house IDEXX diagnostics, CT imaging, endoscopy, emergency surgery and round the clock 24 hour care. We will have a visiting specialist surgeon, and hope to grow the specialty side of the hospital in the coming years.

It will take a dedicated team to provide this care, and we are looking for Registered Veterinary Technicians suited to the exciting and challenging world of emergency medicine.

As a team we also greatly value work life balance, and want to support our team members through any challenges that arise, and tackle this industry together. We want to create a sustainable working environment, where we all feel valued, supported and heard.

We show our staff every day that they are appreciated by ensuring we are surpassing industry standards with our compensation for full-timers:

higher than average pay ($28+/hr depending on experience, and shift differentials)
schedule flexibility
extensive CE allowances (including VIN, VetGirl and Recover memberships)
support provided for those engaging in VTS studies
excellent group health and wellness package (100% coverage with no pay docking – includes coverage for medical, dental, vision, prescriptions, and extras such as naturopathy, chiropractic care, physiotherapy, massage therapy, acupuncture and counselling)
Uniform provision (FIGs scrubs)
Personal pet discounts (free veterinary services and at cost product/supplies, access to primary care through Phases as well as partner-owned Neighbourhood Veterinary Hospital)
Family and friend discounts
3 weeks paid vacation
BCVTA dues paid
We want you to grow with us and be a part of our success, for years to come.

An ability to share in the coverage of overnights, weekends and holidays would be ideal. Our goal is to ensure that no single team member is “stuck” on less favourable shifts for prolonged periods (unless you are a night owl!), and that we all share in the load. Fewer, longer shifts is the goal, so that every team member gets a large amount of time off each week. We will be accepting applications for full-time, part-time and locum RVTs!

For our team, we have a full kitchen and break room, lockers and personal storage, a shower and a sleep room. The hospital has ample safe parking, secure entry with overnight monitoring, and is located on a bus route next to a shopping complex with many other businesses that are open late!

Kamloops as a city has a lot to offer, with a wonderful backyard of hikes, forests and lakes, as well as a world class ski hill, to enrich our lives with plenty of outdoor activity when not at the hospital. There are many restaurants, breweries, distilleries and vineyards for the food and drink connoisseurs. There are many festivals and community events, as well as regular farmer’s markets and sport tournaments. It is also a very kid- and family-friendly city! Kamloops also offers more affordable housing and easy city-wide transportation.
