THE AREA:

Kamloops is one of those places that shocks you! It looks small on the map, like a spot you may just stop into on a road trip, but there is so much to explore. You often end up coming for a trip and then sticking around –  at least that is what has happened for many people on our team so far, including our hospital owners!

Whether you are looking for a day on the town to shop and eat, or gearing up for a day of adventure, Kamloops has it all.

The city itself puts pride into small businesses and local ownership, and proudly supports farmer’s markets and artisan fairs. There are breweries, cideries, wineries and distilleries, as well as numerous spots for incredible local eats! The city is investing in community growth by building large sporting centres, event arenas, art galleries, and Performing Arts Centres.

Sun Peaks Ski Resort has world class skiing and mountain biking only 45 minutes from town. Harper Mountain Ski Hill is a locally owned ski and snow tube park located only 20 minutes away. Kamloops Bike Ranch offers world class mountain biking in the summer months. There are thousands of kilometers of trails all within 30 minutes of the city, with Kenna Cartwright Park, Peterson Creek Trails, Juniper Bluffs, Pineview Nature Trails and Lac Du Bois Grasslands Protected Area all located directly in town all housing an array of dog friendly routes to explore.

The city is located on the Thompson River with numerous beaches and boat launches providing easy access to swimming and water sports throughout the summer. The river feeds into Kamloops Lake which provides a summer water adventure oasis. There are then hundreds of other gorgeous lakes within 30-90 minutes of the city including Lac le Jeune, Paul Lake, Heffley Lake, Barriere Lake, Johnson Lake, Adam’s Lake and the Shuswap to name a few!

Come to Kamloops and have it all. Take advantage of lower housing costs or the ability to purchase larger land parcels within city limits for that hobby farm you have always wanted. Enjoy epic blue-bird powder days in the winter, and then gorgeous sunny heat in the summers perfect for an afternoon on the SUP.
