Ontario Veterinary College Health Sciences Centre

The Intensive Care Unit at the Ontario Veterinary College Health Sciences Centre is hiring qualified RVTs!! Come join an amazing team for flexible, part time work.  Ideal candidates will have some ER or ICU experience, and have awesome IV catheterization, blood collection, ability to work in a fast-paced, intense environment, thirst for knowledge, and super critical thinking skills! The job is of course so much more than that, but training will be provided.  This is an amazing opportunity for RVTs that are looking to specialize in Emergency and Critical Care, as it ticks all the boxes! We have board certified Criticalists (and many other specialties!!), lots of residents that love to teach, and a great crew of interns, VTS(ECC) and RVTs to work with on some really cool cases.  To be considered, applicants must be RVTs in good standing, and preferably have a minimum of 1 year of emergency and/or critical care experience.

We have a thriving tertiary emergency service (referrals) as well as primary emergencies.  Our ICU is one of the busiest in Canada, and has a very challenging and dynamic caseload that services all of our primary services (Medicine, Surgery, Cardiology, Ophthalmology, Oncology, Neurology/Neurosurgery), as well as primary Emergency and Critical Care cases.

Scheduling is flexible around your primary job and availability, but the ideal candidates will be willing to work some days, but mostly nights and/or weekends, 12-hour shifts.  Currently looking for vacation coverage, however there are some regular shifts each month that need to be picked up.  We would like to expand our part time pool to provide more flexibility and time off for our full-time staff! Candidates with experience may be trained to cover our triage and float technicians as well.  Typically, part timers can anticipate 2-8 (max) shifts per month, depending on your availability and time off requests from full-time staff, although there is never a guarantee we will have shifts each month. The applicant will require being available on a weekday 8-4 for an interview, and a few training shifts.  Current rabies titre required.
