Animal Health Partners and VetStrategy have collaborated to establish Lakeshore, our second AHP location. We are actively seeking skilled RVTs to join our Oncology department. Lakeshore boasts amenities similar to those of our existing location but with an expanded footprint. About the Role:
Our candidates must be:
- A Registered Veterinary Technician with the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians
- Experienced in Oncology or a special interest in Oncology is an asset
- Able to perform exceptionally well under pressure
- Strong communicator with teamwork skills
- Passionate for making a difference in the lives of pets and their owners
- Positive and enthusiastic for the job, and a relentless drive to excel every day
Skills and Effort Requirements:
Under the guidance of the Oncology DVM, your duties will include:
- Administering and/or assisting with patient chemotherapy and treatment under the direction of the oncologist
- Ability to identify and report changes to doctor
- Diagnostic imaging- Radiography, Ultrasonography and CT
- Medical record entry (including flow sheets, daily soaps, pertinent laboratory data, prescriptions) and follow treatment orders on an electronic system (e.g., Ezyvet, VetRadar)
- Work well as part of a team
- Triaging emergency oncology patients and history-taking
- Performing and submitting laboratory samples
- Administering oral, IM, IV medications
- Patient care in conjunction with ER and ICU Technicians
- Using independent judgment and initiative
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Participating as a cooperative team member
- Performing various treatments and diagnostics as directed
- Ability to multitask and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Other duties as assigned
