King Animal Hospital, a newly constructed Equine and Small Animal Referral and Emergency Hospital, is seeking passionate and experienced Registered Veterinary Technicians to join our Surgery Department which may include orthopedic, oncology, soft tissue or Neurosurgery.

Our hospital is a 60,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility located on 50 acres in King City, Ontario, and will offer specialty referral, rehabilitation, and emergency services.

As a practitioner, you will be able to provide excellent patient care through the support of strong diagnostics, and a multidisciplinary team that will include fellow RVTs, strong ACA support and Board-Certified Surgeons, Critical Care Specialists, Neurologists, Internists, Anesthesiologists, Ophthalmologists, Dermatologists, and Rehabilitation, Sports Medicine Specialists.

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery Department. As a key member of our veterinary team, you will provide comprehensive support and assistance during surgical procedures. Your role will involve assisting veterinarians with pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care of small and large animals. The ideal candidate should possess excellent technical skills, a passion for animal care, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with veterinarians and other team members to prepare surgical equipment, instruments, and supplies for procedures.
Assist with patient preparation, including anesthesia induction, patient positioning, and aseptic techniques.
Monitor patients during surgery, including vital signs, anesthesia depth, and fluid administration.
Provide perioperative nursing care, including monitoring anesthesia recovery, wound management, and pain management.
Administer medications and intravenous fluids as directed by veterinarians.
Operate and maintain surgical equipment, ensuring proper sterilization and functionality.
Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for surgical cases.
Communicate effectively with pet owners, providing post-operative care instructions and addressing their concerns.
Collaborate with the veterinary team to ensure a safe and clean surgical environment.
Stay updated on the latest surgical techniques and veterinary advancements through continuing education.
Requirements:

Must be a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) with a valid license.
Previous experience working in a surgical setting is strongly preferred.
Proficient in anesthesia monitoring, surgical instrument handling, and surgical assisting.
Strong knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and surgical procedures.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to educate and reassure pet owners.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Attention to detail, with a focus on maintaining a sterile surgical environment.
Physical stamina to handle the demands of standing, lifting, and restraining animals.
Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Demonstrated commitment to compassionate and high-quality veterinary care.

You must be a registered veterinary technician in good standing with the OAVT. You will ideally have a minimum of 4 years as an RVT, and at least one year in Referral or Emergency Services. We will invest in training for special candidates with less experience so please do apply!

You will be responsible for providing exceptional care to equine or small animal patients, assisting with surgeries and procedures, administering medications, and performing diagnostic tests. You will work alongside a team of board-certified specialists and experienced veterinarians, utilizing advanced diagnostic equipment to diagnose and treat complex medical cases.
