Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Triaging patients and taking their vitals, and acquiring patient history and other information from clients
  • Assisting with diagnostic procedures
  • Discussing treatment plans and estimates, and payment options with clients
  • Acquiring cephalic, saphenous, and jugular blood samples
  • Calculating medication dosages as needed, inserting IV catheters, monitoring anesthesia, & administering IV fluids
  • Administering medication as instructed (oral, IM / IV injections)
  • Operating an autoclave
  • Processing specimens in our in-house laboratory and submitting specimens to outside laboratories
  • Entering patients’ service charges into the computer database and keeping accurate patient records
  • Explaining patient instructions and medications to clients and sharing educational materials


Qualifications:

  • Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) certification in Ontario
  • 2 + years of hands-on experience as an RVT preferred (new grad or 1+ years of experience are welcome to still apply!)
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary nursing procedures, anesthesia, dentistry, and laboratory diagnostics
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
