Davis Drive Animal Clinic is seeking a locum Registered Veterinary Technician to support our long term multi-RVT/DVM team. Davis Drive Animal Clinic has been serving the Newmarket community since 1977 and is privately owned. Key Position Details

RVT locum coverage is currently required to support exam room/out-patient care (in order of priority) Fridays 8-5, Tuesdays 1-7 and Thursdays 8-3. Wages will be paid hourly in accordance with a mutually agreed upon locum agreement. Locum coverage needs are reviewed seasonally with potential for future renewal of the locum agreement.

 

Candidate Attributes

The successful candidate will have a love for working with people as much as patients, be flexible and efficient, be able to work independently as well as part of the team and have an avid interest in client education.

 

Expected Role

Exam room patient care including: history taking, vitals, review of required vaccines, parasite prevention and discussion of recommended diagnostic testing, collection of blood/urine samples, supporting exams and completing treatments per DVM, pet owner education re: prescription medications, nutritional recommendations

Triage of unwell patients to organize examinations or admission to hospital

RVT appointments including out-patient injections, prepaid vaccines, soft tissue laser therapy, blood and urine collection, nutritional consultations. post-op exams and surgical discharges

Pet owner communications including patient follow ups, prescription refills and laboratory results per DVM as needed via phone, text and email

Maintaining hospital cleanliness, equipment and maintenance of controlled drug log per CVO requirements

Radiograph set-up, positioning and exposure

 

Candidate Qualifications

An Ontario RVT license in good standing graduation from a 2 or 3 year Veterinary Technician/Technology program and hands-on clinic experience with skills and confidence in client education, exam room treatments, radiographs, blood collection, anesthesia monitoring and pain management.
