Website Coastal Care Veterinary Emergency & Referral Hospital

Coastal Care Veterinary Emergency and Referral Hospital – Halifax’s first fully integrated 24/7 Emergency and Specialty Centre – is inviting an experienced RVT to join our expanding Surgery Department. This is an opportunity to build your career within one of Atlantic Canada’s most advanced veterinary hospitals, where collaboration, innovation, and excellence in patient care guide everything we do.

Our 17,000+ sq ft, Canadian-owned facility was purpose-built to support specialty-level medicine and meaningful cross-department learning. With full-time board-certified specialists or residency-trained clinicians in Internal Medicine, Ophthalmology, Anesthesiology, Neurology, Surgery, Radiology, Critical Care, and Dermatology, and Dentistry arriving in 2026, Coastal Care offers unparalleled access to multidisciplinary expertise. Our hospital also includes a dedicated ER and ICU, the Canadian Animal Blood Bank, a teaching partnership with the Atlantic Veterinary College, and advanced diagnostic imaging including CT and MRI.

In this role, you will support Dr. Scott Joudrey and the Surgical Service, working as a key member of a team known for its professionalism and shared commitment to delivering exceptional patient care. Our Surgery Department manages an extensive caseload, from minimally invasive laparoscopic and thoracoscopic procedures to surgical oncology, orthopedic reconstruction, brachycephalic airway correction, and advanced soft tissue surgery. We are seeking an RVT who brings confidence in anesthesia and sedation, radiography, patient restraint, and client communication—and who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced specialty environment.

Professional growth is a core part of our culture. Working alongside our Anesthesiology team, you will have hands-on opportunities to develop advanced anesthesia skills, including epidurals, regional and local blocks, TAP and nerve blocks, anesthetic ventilator management, use of neuromuscular blocking agents, and arterial catheter placement for direct blood pressure monitoring. Our team also supports RECOVER CPR certification, VTS mentorship, structured CE, and cross-departmental skill building, ensuring your growth keeps pace with the evolution of the hospital.

We offer a competitive compensation package including relocation support, annual CE allowance, uniform allowance, paid licensing dues, comprehensive health benefits, RRSP matching, and an employee pet discount. Most importantly, you will be joining a hospital built with intention – modern infrastructure, specialty-driven standards, and a culture grounded in teamwork and professional development.

As Coastal Care continues to grow, so do the opportunities for advancement. This role offers meaningful long-term potential within the Surgery Department and across our expanding specialty and emergency services.

Coastal Care is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering a respectful, inclusive, and diverse workplace. If you require accommodation during the recruitment process, and/or you would like to submit your CV for consideration, please contact cgeisreiter@p3vetpartners.ca
