Private Small Animal & Orthopedic/Surgical Referral Hospital

Caledon Mountain Veterinary Hospital (CMVH) is a privately owned, AAHA-accredited small animal and surgical referral practice in Caledon Village, Ontario. Surgery is at the heart of what we do. Our caseload is predominantly orthopaedic and advanced soft tissue, and we are committed to progressive, evidence-based medicine delivered with calm, respectful patient care.

We’re looking for an experienced full-time Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) with a strong interest in surgery to join our growing team.

This is not a general practice RVT role with occasional surgery. We’re looking for someone who thrives in the OR, values precision and preparation, and takes pride in being an essential part of a high-performing surgical team.

What Your Role Would Look Like
As a surgical RVT at CMVH, your focus would include:

  • Preparing patients for surgery, including anesthesia induction and monitoring
  • Placing IV catheters and performing advanced anesthesia protocols
  • Intra-operative monitoring and meticulous record keeping
  • Surgical instrumentation, aseptic technique, and OR set-up/tear-down
  • Inventory management and implant preparation
  • Post-operative recovery monitoring and pain management
  • Client communication surrounding surgical admissions and discharge instructions
  • Maintaining and refining surgical protocols alongside our surgeons

We perform multiple orthopaedic and advanced procedures each week, so efficiency, attention to detail, and strong teamwork are essential.

What We’re Looking For

  • Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) in good standing with the OAVT
  • Strong anesthesia knowledge and confidence in a surgical setting
  • Experience in orthopaedics or referral practice is an asset (but not required)
  • Excellent communication skills with both clients and colleagues
  • A calm, focused presence in high-stakes situations
  • A genuine interest in continual learning and surgical excellence
  • Ability to lift 45 lbs unassisted

We’re looking for someone who enjoys the technical side of veterinary medicine, values precision, and wants to keep building their surgical skill set.

What We Offer

  • A collaborative surgical team supported by 8 experienced RVTs
  • Comprehensive health & dental benefits (no co-pay for full-time team members)
  • CE allowance and paid CE days to support professional growth
  • Generous paid time off
  • Staff discounts on veterinary services
  • A supportive, privately owned practice where your voice matters
  • AAHA-accredited standards and a progressive approach to medicine

At CMVH, surgical technicians are respected, empowered, and encouraged to take ownership of their role in patient outcomes.

How to Apply
If you’re an RVT who feels most at home in the OR and wants to be part of a surgical team that values preparation, precision, and patient care, we would love to connect.
