Registered Veterinary Technician
Location: Ottawa, ON

Alta Vista Animal Hospital has a full time opportunity for a dedicated, experienced Anesthesia RVT to join our amazing Specialty Departments. The successful candidate will be a believer in the possibilities of high quality veterinary medicine and patient care—with the expertise and technical know-how to make them happen. In this position you will be supporting our Doctors and Support teams by creating a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients.
- Performing initial examinations.
- Taking vital signs, drawing blood and gathering medical histories.
- Collecting specimens.
- Assisting in research.
- Performing laboratory procedures.
- Preparing patients and equipment for surgical procedures.
- Experience with anesthetic delivery, support, and monitoring equipment
- Assist during procedures
- Taking and processing x-rays.
- Performs accurate and consistent inventory, cleaning, and, maintenance procedures of surgical materials, equipment, and clinical area
- Ability to calculate drug doses and administer medications intravenously, subcutaneously, intramuscularly, and/or orally
- Understanding and experience with routine repair and maintaining anesthesia related equipment
- Engaging with client to answer any questions or concerns
Required Qualifications:
- Registered Veterinary Technician with anesthesia experience an asset
- Fluent in English (Reading, Writing and Oral)
- Able to support patients up to 50kg and lift up to 25kg.
- Asset would be direct experience within the specialty veterinary environment.
