RVTs to the Rescue: Cat Welfare and Wildlife Conservation
Free-roaming cats pose significant, long-term threats to local wildlife, ecosystems, and community health. The Canadian Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) supports the One Health approach to managing free-roaming cats to promote animal welfare, public health and ecological resilience. This webinar will explore the role of RVTs in mitigating the impacts of free-roaming cats while ensuring humane and ethical treatment of all animals. Key topics include:

About the speaker:
Dr. Judit Smits, DVM, MVetSc., PhD, is an Emerita Professor of Wildlife & Ecotoxicology at the University of Calgary’s Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Smits’ long-term research focuses on the impacts of environmental contaminants and ecosystem degradation from human-related activities on the health and fitness of birds, humans, and other vertebrates, including amphibians, small mammals and carnivores across the globe.
