FAST Ultrasound Level 1

In this one-day workshop, participants will learn the basics of performing Fast scans of the thorax and abdomen.  These scans are used to evaluate for abnormal thoracic/peritoneal fluid and air and help guide treatment.  They can be used as part of a routine physical exam, particularly for the trauma patient and the medically unwell.

Fast scans are an ultrasound guided quick 5-point assessment in both the thoracic and abdominal cavity. These scans require little preparation and patient can be positioned to best maintain stability.  This course is designed provide participants with a foundation to perform this efficient and effective ultrasound assessment tool and does not require previous ultrasound experience.

Who should attend this course: Clinicians and general veterinary practitioners who are novice or beginning to use ultrasound as a routine assessment tool in their day-day practice.
