Advances in the monitoring of diabetes mellitus in small animals

A focused view of monitoring diabetic dogs and cats with emphasis on the new developments in monitoring diabetics such as glycosylated serum proteins (fructosamine and HbA1C), non-invasive continuous glucose monitors and urine glucose diagnostics. This lecture will focus on the advantages and disadvantages of various diabetic monitoring equipment and will summarize protocols for monitoring insulin therapy. In cats, special emphasis will be on urine glucose monitoring for diabetic remission.
