Registered Veterinary Technician – Bermuda

Turn your next career move into an island adventure

Ettrick Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician to join our friendly, collaborative team in beautiful Bermuda.

As Bermuda’s largest animal hospital, we provide comprehensive general practice services alongside advanced and specialist-level veterinary care. Our team of approximately 20 includes veterinary, nursing, client care, boarding and management professionals—all working together to provide exceptional care to Bermuda’s pets and their families.

Our nursing team is central to everything we do. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to use your skills to their fullest, take an active role in patient care and continue developing your clinical expertise.

About the role

You’ll work alongside five veterinarians, three other veterinary nurses and two nursing assistants. Our Head Nurse has extensive UK referral experience in specialty anaesthesia and critical care and holds a VTS in Anesthesia & Analgesia, making this an excellent opportunity for an RVT interested in advancing their skills in these areas.

Our nurses are strong advocates for hospitalized and surgical patients, so compassion, attentiveness and a commitment to high-quality care are essential.

This is a full-time position consisting of 40 hours over four days, including every other Saturday. The role also includes shared on-call responsibilities—approximately one in four weekends and some weekday evenings. The schedule will be explained fully during the interview, and all out-of-hours and overtime work is paid in addition to the annual salary.

What we’re looking for

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be a Registered Veterinary Technician with three to five years of clinical experience
  • Be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
  • Have experience in—or a strong desire to develop skills in—anaesthesia, critical care, emergency medicine, triage and inpatient care
  • Be confident providing nurse consultations and a broad range of veterinary nursing services
  • Be compassionate, attentive and a strong advocate for every patient
  • Be enthusiastic about ongoing learning and professional development
  • Training, mentorship and continued clinical development are actively encouraged.

What we offer

  • Annual salary of BMD $50,000—approximately CAD $69,900—plus additional payment for out-of-hours work and overtime
  • One round-trip flight between Canada and Bermuda
  • Full support throughout the work-permit process
  • Paid vacation and sick leave
  • Health insurance, with 50% of the premium paid by Ettrick Animal Hospital
  • Private pension plan
  • Accommodation at a below-market rental rate
  • A motorcycle for local transportation
  • After completing your first year, paid attendance at a professional conference in the United States—including flights and accommodation—or equivalent support for a conference in another location

Make Bermuda your next home

This is an exciting opportunity for an RVT who enjoys varied clinical work, wants to develop advanced nursing skills and is ready for a new adventure.

Bermuda is famous for its pink-sand beaches, crystal-clear water and relaxed island lifestyle—and yes, it really is as beautiful as the photos.

We’re ideally looking for someone interested in joining us for at least one to two years, with the option to extend. We will also consider shorter-term or locum placements of approximately six months. Work-permit requirements and the options best suited to each candidate will be discussed during the interview.

Ready to combine meaningful clinical work with island living? We’d love to hear from you.
