The City of Peterborough is seeking an Animal Health Technician to fill a current vacancy. This position supports the daily care and medical well‑being of the Riverview Park & Zoo’s animal collection.
This role includes preparing diets, feeding animals, cleaning and disinfecting habitats, maintaining animal records, and providing both preventative and emergency health care under veterinary direction. Weekend and holiday shifts are part of a rotating schedule.
Qualifications:
- Veterinary Technician Diploma
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a zoo or similar animal care environment
- Strong knowledge of biology, zoology, and animal husbandry
- Skilled in handling and assessing diverse species
- Familiarity with safety protocols, OHSA, WHMIS
- Proficiency with MS Office and animal management systems (ZIMS, ISIS, MedARKS)
Hourly Rate:
$31.58–$39.33 per hour
