We are privately-owned hospital in Toronto in the established neighbourhood of Lawrence Park. Located on Line 1 subway, it is an easy commute. We are a three-doctor practice and you will play a vital role in our delivery of excellent care to our patients.
As Lead RVT, in consultation with the Medical Director, you will set the tone of excellence in animal care, participating in the development and implementation of best practices and SOPs that ensure adherence to procedures and policies by all staff under your supervision.
Surgery:
As Lead RVT, you will be responsible to ensure that the activities of the surgical suite flow smoothly. You will assist in surgery for three doctors, ranging from simple routine procedures to complex orthopedic surgeries and including assisting, where needed with procedures performed by visiting surgeons. You will oversee the surgical suite and equipment and ensure it is properly equipped, clean and prepared for procedures.
You will monitor pre and post-surgical care of patients
Medicine
You will assist in patient appointments; communicate with clients for discharges, follow-ups and answering, where appropriate, client queries.
You will administer vaccines under the supervision of the attending DVM, draw blood, assist in guiding ultrasound, prepare medications
Dentistry
You will perform dental prophylaxis for patients and assist DVMs in more complex dental procedures.
Pharmacy
Working as a team with other staff, you will ensure that pharmacy inventories are at appropriate levels, are monitored as to efficacy dates, you will reconcile the controlled drug log. You will meet with Pharmaceutical reps to learn about promotions and new products and pass on information to the DVMs.
Supervision and Mentorship
You will participate in the oversight of ACA staff to ensure compliance with our best practices and excellence in patient care.
You will work closely with your co-workers to develop a supportive and inclusive work environment.
Visiting Specialists and Ultrasound
You will schedule and interact with visiting surgeons and ultrasonographers to ensure a smooth experience for the patient, the client and the doctor.
Regulatory Compliance
You will participate in keeping us in compliance with various regulatory requirements, including CVO and WHIMIS.
Your Education and Training
You will be an RVT and a member in good standing with the OAVT or other provincial or state regulatory body. You will be eligible to work in Canada.
Compensation:
We offer competitive compensation commensurate with your education and experience. In addition, we provide a health and dental plan, reimbursement of OAVT dues and a CE allowance, as well as staff discounts for medical procedures and supplies.
