Fort Erie Spay & Neuter Clinic

Location: The Fort Erie SPCA

Hours of Work: 37.5 – 40 hours per week, weekdays Monday to Friday 8-4pm

Rate of Pay: $25.00 per hour, benefits available after completion of 3 month probationary period, annual OAVT dues included

Morning Duties:

  • Administer morning medications
  • Direct kennel staff on duties for the day and assign each a position
  • Ensure reception is cleaned daily by a staff member
  • Brief kennel staff on pets having behavioural concerns and plan for safety
  • Check in at front desk for new arrivals – take pics of cage cards for reference
  • Walk through shelter and visually check over each pet
  • Ensure all pets have a cage card with diet directive
  • Check in on cabin cats
  • Perform intakes on new arrivals
  • Set up deworming sheets for abandoned pets and perform a once over
  • Input new arrivals into computer and book spay/neuter surgeries

Afternoon duties:

  • Restock and clean med cart and check stock on diets + probiotics
  • Ensure med sheets are up top date – signed for – and refill if required
  • Prepare supper with evening meds for shelter pets
  • Give enrichment toy and treat to each dog. Restock frozen enrichment treats
  • Restock cabin supplies, special diets, meds, food, and bedding
  • Check to ensure all cats have enrichment on their doors
  • Check diffusers in cabin and free roaming rooms
  • Review each medical log book and ensure all pets are up to date
  • Check over compounds and ensure they are clean and tidy
  • Clean ears and trim nails of pets in shelter if required
  • Bathe dogs in shelter requiring a bath
