After-Hours Emergency Clinic
EVC HWY 10, a non-corporate, after-hours emergency clinic, requires a full time, overnights only, RVT to cover a parental leave beginning at the end of March 2026.
We are a dedicated, supportive, and inclusive team working together to provide exceptional care to pets and clients. The clinic is well equipped with in house Idexx lab equipment, ISTAT, radiology, ultrasound, and monitoring equipment enabling us to provide high quality urgent and emergent care to our patients.
Our operating hours are Monday to Friday 7 pm to 8 am and 24 hours on weekends and holidays. The parental leave schedule is Wednesdays, Thursdays and every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 6:30 pm 8:30 am. (8 pm to 8 am on weekends). We are a small practice and operate with a DVM and RVT only from midnight to 8 am. Our team includes ACA and CSR support from 8 am to midnight.
RVT duties include, patient triage, induction and monitoring of anaesthesia, assisting in surgery, as well as lab tasks, sample collection, IV catheter placement, monitoring IV fluids, drug calculations, flow sheet management, patient, and client support. Advanced technical skills, if one is comfortable, such as placing NE/ NG tubes, urinary catheters, organizing CRIs and blood transfusions are appreciated. Overnight RVTs are also responsible for reception and kennel duties from midnight to 8am. These include answering phones, checking clients in and billing them out, sending completed records to primary care clinics and clients as well as general clinic maintenance and patient care.

We require:
A reliable and responsible RVT, in good standing with the OAVT.
Ideally, 2 or more years of experience in either a primary care or emergency setting. ER and/or referral experience is helpful but not necessary.
Comfort and confidence with drug dosages, calculations, anaesthesia, surgical assistance, radiographic positioning (hands free) a familiarity with common veterinary emergencies, technical tasks, and laboratory procedures.
An RVT with an exceptional eye for detail responsible for drug calculations and logs, maintenance of lab equipment, client record management, and patient flow sheets. Accuracy is crucial.
Someone who enjoys multitasking and can assess and reorganize priorities in a, sometimes, fast paced and emotionally charged environment.
An individual who is committed to being a supportive team player and providing exceptional care to clients and pets.
