Overview

Coastal Care Veterinary Emergency & Referral Hospital is looking for a collaborative and professional Registered Veterinary Technician with a passion for Internal Medicine to join our specialty team. This position requires a driven individual with attention to detail and who is a self- starter and able to work in a fast paced environment. The ideal candidate must be computer literate and have multi-tasking and time management skills. Job Summary:

The Internal Medicine RVT has many important responsibilities and is routinely entrusted with patient assessments, sedation/anesthesia, procedures, diagnostics, and treatments. The RVT will be responsible for patient care, patient follow-up, and maintenance of Internal Medicine appointments and records.

They will be expected to maintain regular client follow up, and answer owner and referring veterinarian-related questions.

The RVT must be a detail-oriented person who can make good decisions, respond quickly and calmly, and maintain high standards of patient care.

The RVT will need to maintain clear and accurate written communications with the specialists, other hospital personnel, and clients to ensure that patients receive the best possible care.

This role will allow a rotating schedule, with some evenings and weekends as needed. The role will be a float position until September, when our second Internist starts full-time. Once fully in IM, the schedule will be Monday – Thursday.

Job Duties:

  • Assist with procedures and perform diagnostics that include but are not limited to ultrasound, endoscopy/rhinoscopy/cystoscopy, chemotherapy, CT scans, fine-needle aspirates and cytology.
  • Administration of chemotherapy and adjunctive oncologic treatments. Training will be provided.
  • Maintain a professional, friendly demeanor at all times.
  • Demonstrate the willingness to obtain a full working knowledge of practice software.
  • Support and educate clients on medical related illness, disease and treatment.
  • Prioritize tasks to maximize clients’ satisfaction and patients’ health.

 

Qualifications:

  • Registered Veterinary Technician designation, with a minimum of 2 years of experience.
  • Registered with EVTA/NSVMA.
