Star Veterinary Hospital is Seeking a Full-Time Experienced Registered Veterinary Technician

We are independently owned. Our team is looking to expand and we are seeking a passionate, skilled, and motivated Registered Veterinary Technician to join our dynamic clinic.

Job Description:
As a Registered Veterinary Technician at our clinic, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our animal patients. You will work closely with veterinarians to assist with medical procedures, diagnostics, patient care, and client education.

Key Responsibilities:
Your duties and responsibilities for this Position will include, without limitation:

  • Maintain knowledge of preventative healthcare recommendations in order to answer client questions, provide education on vaccines, flea and heartworm products, and assist in marketing veterinary services from which their pet would benefit, such as dental cleaning
  • Calculating drug dosing and maintain inventory of controlled substances.
    Clean, maintain and sterilize instruments, equipment, and materials.
  • Work well with all team members and ensure that your actions support the practice philosophy.
  • Collect specimens and perform routine laboratory procedures and tests in hematology, biochemistry, chemistry, microbiology, urinalysis, and serology
  • Dispense and administer medications, vaccines, serums and treatments
  • Administer fluids and blood products as prescribed by the veterinarian.
  • Provide specialized nursing care for injured or ill animals.
  • Take and process radiographs.
  • Administer and monitor anesthesia under the direction of a veterinarian.
  • Prepare patients, instruments and equipment for surgery.
  • Assure that monitoring and support equipment such are in good working condition.
  • Assist in diagnostic, medical and surgical procedures using various high-tech diagnostic equipment including electrocardiographic, radiographic and ultrasonographic equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) in Ontario
  • Experience as a Registered Veterinary Technician preferred, will consider new grads
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong multitasking and organizational abilities
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
