We are a busy one veterinarian practice located in Essa, Ontario, just 10 minutes outside of Barrie, Ontario. We see companion animals as well as exotic species such as birds, small flocks, reptiles, rabbits, and pocket pets.
We are seeking a full-time registered veterinary technician to join our team.
Experience working with exotics is preferred. Willing to train the right applicant. Must have a strong desire to learn and be able to work under pressure.
Schedule:
Mondays 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Tuesdays 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Wednesdays 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Thursdays 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Fridays 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Saturdays 7:30 AM to 12:00 PM (every other Saturday)
Duties include:
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures.
- Monitor animal patients before, during, and after surgical procedures.
- Perform laboratory tests, including blood work, urinalysis, fecal floats and smears.
- Administer medications and vaccinations as directed by the veterinarian.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient.
- Educate pet owners on proper care, nutrition, and preventive health measures.
- Prepare and maintain surgical instruments and equipment for procedures.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the clinic or hospital environment.
- Perform x-rays.
- Assist in reception duties, such as answering phone calls and emails, checking patients in, and taking payments.
- Help care for clinic pets and hospitalized patients.
- Experience with Avimark software is strongly preferred.
