Job Overview:
Trenton Pet Hospital is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), to join our dedicated team. In this role, you will be responsible for the management of our in-house pharmacy, including but not limited to: inventory control, dispensing, labelling, quality control and prescription handling for our veterinary patients. Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Management:
Oversee the pharmacy inventory, including maintaining stock levels, organizing medication supplies, and performing regular inventory checks. Ensure all medications are properly stored and labeled according to safety guidelines.
Prescription Handling & Dispensing:
Accurately handle and prepare prescriptions in accordance with regulations and the DVM’s instructions. Dispense medications and products per patient needs, ensuring correct dosages and quantities. Adhere to the scope of your professional license while dispensing medications.
Parasite Control:
Prepare and dispense parasite control medications and provide instructions on parasite control to pet owners.
Client Interaction & Education:
Provide excellent customer service, including answering client questions related to prescriptions and medications. Assist in educating pet owners about the correct usage of medications, parasite control, and other related pharmacy products.
Collaboration with Veterinarians and Staff:
Work closely with the veterinary team to ensure appropriate and safe medication practices. Maintain strong communication with staff to meet the medical needs of patients.
Preferred Qualifications:
Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT): Current, active RVT license is highly preferred. Candidates with experience in veterinary pharmacy or dispensary are encouraged to apply.
Attention to Detail:
Strong organizational skills and an ability to maintain focus in a busy environment. Accuracy is critical for dispensing prescriptions and managing inventory.
Customer Service Skills:
Exceptional communication skills and a professional demeanor when interacting with clients.
