OAVT 2025 Conference Volunteer Opportunity – Looking for Speaker Planning Committee (SPC) members

May 7, 2024

Here’s your chance to contribute to the OAVT’s biggest event of the year! The SPC is looking to recruit three of four RVTs in good standing to join this year, and work with returning committee members on the content for the 2025 Conference. The selection of members is based on their areas of expertise, so that proposed tracks are overseen by RVTs with the knowledge and experience to choose strong content and speakers, or actively seek speakers should a gap be identified.

Time commitment includes two virtual meetings during the two-month window during which the call for speakers is open; regular analysis of speaker submissions in the event platform, and; help at the conference itself, primarily in the role of session moderators.

There is a stipend of $250.00 available to each committee member, and a full conference pass.

If you still wish to take part in the SPC, please send an e-mail to me that includes your place of work and specific duties there, and any prior or current veterinary industry committee work. Tracks for which we need new committee members are:

  • RVT Wellness
  • Food production animals (including Large Animal, Small Ruminants, bees, poultry, swine)
  • Equine
  • Behaviour
  • Dentistry
  • Specialties – orthopedics, ophthalmology, dermatology, pharmacology, etc.

Please indicate your interest by May 15, 2024, by sending an e-mail to the CE & One Health Manager, at laurie@oavt.org.  Successful applicants will be asked to sign a letter of confidentiality and a letter of commitment, and will be provided with a timetable and detailed notes about committee responsibilities.
