About the role
Our Candidates are required to be:
- A Registered Veterinary Technician with the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians (OAVT) or eligible for a registration transfer from outside Ontario
- Experienced with surgery & anesthesia (required)
- Have enthusiasm, energy and a positive attitude
- Able to perform exceptionally well under pressure
- Strong communicators with teamwork skills

Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Anesthesiologist, the duties and responsibilities of the Registered Veterinary Technician includes, but are not limited to, the following:
- Perform evaluation of the patient’s condition by evaluation of the animal, reviewing patient history and diagnostics
- Prepares preanesthetic evaluation form using the above acquired information for discussion with the supervising Anesthesiologist
- Case set up and preparation (set up of anesthetic machine, monitors, anesthetic agents required for case, specialized equipment) as per the LAHP Anesthetic SOP
- Provides continuous monitoring of the animal throughout the entire anesthetic period
- Preparation and maintenance of medical records and in-hospital client invoices
- Transports anesthetized patients/anesthetic machine/patient table from Induction area to MRI, CT, endoscopy and/or operating room as needed
- Monitoring of animals in the recovery period
- You will be part of an on-call rotating schedule and compensated accordingly
- Ability to identify and report changes with in-hospital patients to Anesthesiologist
- Rounding patients to RVTs of Specialty, ER and ICU departments after anesthetic procedure
- Using independent judgment and initiative
- Experience with ezyVet/VetRadar is an asset but not a requirement
- Daily stocking, cleaning and organizing of induction and recovery areas
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
- Work well as part of a team
