About the Role:
We are seeking a Veterinary Assistant (VA) to join our dynamic team. As a VA, you will play a key role in providing outstanding patient care in our fast-paced environment, supporting our veterinarians and RVTs in advanced procedures for Internal Medicine, Surgery, and Emergency/Critical Care. Your responsibilities will include assisting in patient care, maintaining clinic cleanliness, and contributing to a positive client experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the RVTs and DVMs with procedures, treatments, and diagnostics, such as ER tray setup, Fine Needle Aspirates, Tru-Cut Biopsies, and surgical anesthetics
- Safely and compassionately restrain animals, ensuring the safety of patients, staff, and yourself
- Maintain comfort for in-hospital patients, including clean bedding and proper handling techniques
- Clean and sterilize surgical equipment and work areas, adhering to aseptic techniques
- Handle daily clinic cleanliness, including vacuuming, mopping, and laundry duties
- Assist the RVTs and DVMs with surgical preparation for procedures like fracture repairs and mass removals
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required; Post-Secondary Animal Care Program preferred
- At least 1 year of hands-on experience in an animal care setting (veterinary clinic, shelter, or wildlife center)
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks
- Excellent client service skills with a friendly and patient approach
