The Registered Veterinary Technician – Internal Medicine role at Capital City is primarily designed to provide support to the Internal Medicine team between the hours of 8am and 6pm, Tuesday through Friday. A dedicated team member for the Internal Medicine department will allow Capital City uphold our reputation for efficient client service and exceptional patient care.
More specific details of the role are included below.
Performing registered veterinary technician duties such as (but not limited to):
• IV catheterization and sample collection
• Imaging and diagnostics
• Caring for hospitalized patients (In all areas of the hospital)
• Monitoring patients before, during, and after procedures including while sedated and anesthetized
• Completing treatment plans
• Rounding and communication with other team members
• Filling prescriptions
• Processing patient discharges from hospital and other client communications
• Assisting with admit-to-hospital procedures for transfer patients
• Sit, Stand, walk, kneel, bend, or crouch for extended periods of time
• Lift, support, or restrain heavy patients (with assistance)
Lab Specific duties (include by not limited to):
• Assisting with ensuring that all tests are performed according to the established in-house protocols
• Assisting with preparation of samples for delivery to external labs
• Logging tests for reference lab in and out as needed
• Performing analyses on samples
• Preparation of lab standards and reagents
• Assisting with performance analysis & quality control
• Assisting with maintenance and cleaning of laboratory workspace
• Assisting with inventory maintenance and ordering of lab supplies (including those maintained within or by the lab for use within the hospital)
• Compliance with company QA/QC and Health & Safety policies and procedures
• Assisting with communication about lab results or sample issues

Supplemental pay types:
• Overtime pay (averaging agreement applies)
