Enhance Your Obesity Conversations with Clients
This program will cover the latest knowledge on the prevention, treatment, and communication with clients about obesity in dogs and cats. The complexity of the causes and consequences of obesity will be discussed, as well as strategies and key considerations for preventing and treating obesity in practice.
Communicating effectively with clients who own cats and dogs with obesity will be a focus of the program. Participants will learn about the core communication skills in veterinary medicine, and how to apply these to have an effective weight management conversation with a client.
In addition to asynchronous, interactive, online content, participants in this program will have opportunities to engage with simulated clients to practice applying their newly acquired knowledge and skills, while receiving feedback and guidance from experienced communication coaches.
At the end of the program, participants can expect to have enhanced their skills and confidence in managing and communicating about obesity in practice.
This CE program is a research study. This project has been reviewed by the Research Ethics Board for compliance with federal guidelines for research involving human participants (REB#22-11-007) and is funded through a Mitacs Elevate grant in partnership with Royal Canin Canada.
