Central Lines, Chest Tubes and Tracheostomies

This is a 1/2 day CE lecture with a wet lab. RVT participants will learn about placement of central line catheters, tracheostomy tubes and chest tubes and will get the chance to practice central line placement on cadavers. Prior to participation, RVTs will need to complete readings and a short quiz (listed below.) This lecture/wet lab will be conducted by Dr Anais Gauthier, DVM, m.v., MS, DACVECC.

Central line or PICC line catheter placement (Seldinger technique):

– Chapter 4 from the Burkitt Creedon book p.56 to 61 (pdf enclosed + book in the vet office), focus on the Seldinger technique or guide-wire technique
